Massachusetts singer and songwriter Ava Valianti just released “Clean My Room”, her latest single ahead of her upcoming debut EP a little later in the year. On her newest song the charming artist reflects on memories, insecurities and the underlying fear of showing her true self with compelling honesty.

Taking cues from the same type of rawness found on Lucy Dacus’s Home Video, “Clean My Room” offers insight into a very private moment and experience: the one of sorting yourself out. Ava soars through the intimacy of cleaning her own space while bits of nostalgic longing cling to her mind and memories pour out of the objects, ranging from uplifting to devastating. After bearing her heart and soul on the poignant “Buttercups“, Ava sounds slightly more hopeful on “Clean My Room” as the production swirls around her with dreamy melodies and rich textures.
Ever since her debut “Bubble Wrap” at the end of 2023, Ava never shies away from writing and reminiscing about intricate topics, and “Clean My Room” is no different. “This song came from a really personal place”, she says. “It’s about the pressure to keep it together when you feel like you’re coming undone”, the artist comments on the root of the inspirations behind the track before concluding: “It’s messy and emotional and honest, just like life feels sometimes.”
Ava’s ability to turn complex introspection into something accessible and relatable is not matched by many others, making her songs truly feel like shared experiences.
