Taken as a single from their upcoming album Arsenal of Democracy, the track is a poignant and raw critique of society’s obsession with consumerism with razor-sharp lyrics and electropunk inspirations. “Pretty Sparkly Things” is an unapologetic hard look at society and our views of celebrity culture that cuts like a butcher’s knife – it doesn’t matter if it’s this month’s latest world-dominating pop star or your local TikTok influencer. People will always sell you unrealistic visions of the world and dictate how we should act or be in order to feel fulfilled, and we were the ones who gave them all of this power over time. We should also be the ones to take it back and put a stop to it, and Energy Whores is the perfect in-your-face experimental punk artist to lead the revolution.
