The Muster Point Project is back with some pretty huge news. It’s a new album called “Old Is New”, which is now available for preorder via Bandcamp. The release tells stories of various relationships people encounter throughout their lives through straight-forward and vulnerable lyricism. This article takes a closer look to one of the more lonesome songs, the melancholic “I Can Only Cry”

Usually, life seems to be pretty well-balanced with the good and bad happenings. Occasionally though, some people seem to attract only misfortune, and when the bad things come, they come like a freight train. Such is the case with the me-character in “I Can Only Cry”, an older person with a few things he loved in his life. His wife, his dog and his trusty truck.
And so the strummed guitar melodies and swaying indie rock beat sets off, as the man comes face-to-face with the first misfortune, which ended up in multi-lane traffic accident. Though sad, he kept his head up as the truck was already badly rusted. But then…
With the sudden unfortunate passing of his dog and later the departure of his wife, who found someone that’s less of a “crashing bore”, the song’s heavy emotional luggage makes its size apparent. Now battling loneliness and a creeping depression, all he could do is two step on the grave of all things departed from his life. While crying.
Life in solitude, failed and been failed. Will there be a win in the end?
