Based in Mons, Belgium, pianist and electronic music composer Jean-Philippe Ruelle is back with electrifying new single “Compulsein”. Following on the footsteps of great new wave and krautrock legends that range from DEVO and Kraftwerk to modern acts like Röyksopp, “Compulsein” is an amusing and immersive listening experience. His new single finds the artist walking through a drastically different route than the calming “Switeemind“, betting on energetic beats and richly layered textures that feels unlike anything he’s done before.
“You have no idea how much fun I had making this track”, he says, and such fun is palpable throughout the song. “Compulsein” shows Ruelle stepping a bit away from the introspective ambient stylings of his latest compositions and really diving in, headfirst, towards pulsating beats and dramatic vocalizations.
