A promising new voice has piped up in the alt rock scene, a potent young artist named Less, who has just released her newest single “Hellya”. Born from a place of frustration and carrying a story of her creative becoming, the song shows with clear imagery what it’s like to be an artist in an opinionated society.
In a world where people confuse opinions with truth, a budging artist has two choices. One option is conforming and changing according to what people think of them, and the other is sticking to one’s inner voice and pushing on despite what is being told or suggested. “This track represents the definitive style through which I want my music to be heard. The lyrics emerged after a period of apathy, when I felt as if I were sinking into a deep hole; a series of heavy emotions were suffocating me. Do I really want to tie my life to just one person? I dreamed of escaping to a place where I could make music freely, yet I felt bound. I wanted to share my music, but in this country there seems to be neither the opportunities nor the cultural space to do so. I wished I could simply be a musician without having to be a content creator.” Less

Born in Naples to a leather worker parents, Less has moved around a lot with her folks and experienced both the wonderful and the painful sides of life and the struggles of growing up. Music is much like her personal diary, a self-expression of a young person doing her very best making sense of the self-contradictory society and the world she’s in. And though personal, the music of Less echoes with many listeners appreciating her lyricism and songwriting, and the pure love put into the craft.
