This January, Arizonian guitarist-songwriter Brian Fate brings out his newest song titled “Pieces of Silver”. Slow-paced and carrying an air of desolation, the single tells a story of hope in times of darkness, a relationship on rocky waves yet holding on to reach calm in the future.
“Pieces of Silver” begins its story with an airy piano note painting a visual of fog in one’s life, a slowly moving yet all-present feature that dims daylight. Brian Fate’s voice sings of heavy thoughts clouding one’s mind, and his singing voice is like a careful embrace, a little bit of hope in the pondering lines that noticed the light in those eyes had gone out.
A poignant cello joins in to give that somber, almost mournful note, but also brings in that beautiful tone representing hope and love as Brian’s skillfully played guitar melodies visualise the waves of clarity finding their way through that fog. From this point, the song turns into a duet, Brian’s voice perfectly harmonising with a woman’s voice. Rocky waters and seeds of doubt may be everywhere, but somehow, the pieces of silver promise something better ahead.
