Ivelisse del Carmen, singer-songwriter and a classically trained soprano born in Puerto Rica and now living in London, created “Illusion” as an experiment with meaning left into the velvety tenderness. Her work was inspired by the raw, vulnerable vocal works of Billie Holiday, and the melancholic, beautiful lyric writing of Sylvia Rexach, a legendary poet and composer.
Driven by clear intention, Ivelisse’s music reflects the artist’s refusal to conform. Fluidly moving through genres, her music weaves together layers of meaning, spirit, experiences, and beliefs, resulting in lively and delicate, yet powerful and bold music.
