The Muster Point Project is back on the blog with another fresh addition in their soulful portfolio. Titled “Getting Out (Good as It Gets)”, the single tells a story of a person facing a difficult decision regarding work, which had been overly demanding. Do you stay with great coworkers, or do you clock out and find something that’s better for you?
Gentle acoustic atmosphere forms TMPP’s signature sound, where deep thoughts grow into meaningful lyrics, telling a story of human struggles. Here, the soft guitar sound follows the pondering voice, giving a stern look at the workplace he’d been a part of for so long. Heavy with emotions, particularly regret, it paints a clear and detailed image of a worker facing a sad and difficult decision.
There’s exhaustion depicted through the slow pace and lyrics mentioning endless workdays. There’s fear of change and of letting go the good things that are present in current place. Disappointment, maybe even anger towards the leadership that has ruined a good thing for you. The decision has already been made by the knowledge you’re unable to carry on like that anymore, but facing it is still so difficult.
A little bit of hope enters later in the song with the first little plans laid out as tentative steps towards the still uncertain future. Change is terrifying, but it’s something everyone has to face at some point, and it’s better than being stuck in a place that keeps chipping away at your physique.
The Muster Point Project picks the stories from real life and extends a helping hand of clarity to anyone who needs it. Through caressing melodies and the lyrics written as if they’re from a diary of someone with great writing skills, TMPP soothes and embraces the sore and sad listeners and leads them on towards a brighter day with newfound courage.
