American-Ukraininan singer-songwriter Kelsie Kimberlin has just released a new, deeply meaningful single “Clumsy Girl”. In the dreamy, melancholic song, a window is opened to the life of a young woman still looking for herself and her place in the world. But one thing is for sure – this messy journey is better when there’s someone walking that path with you.
“Clumsy Girl” is a delightful indie pop song written as slices of life from late teens and early adulthood. Reflection, rawness, and honesty grow out from nocturnal atmosphere, where a steady pop beat meets the melodic voice of Kelsie. It’s home to rather intimate lyrics about all the things this clumsy girl might get up to, likes to wear and feels unsure and insecure about.
Past mistakes and a subsequent broken heart weigh down on the shoulders of the girl trying her best to find her true self. But as the song develops, a sense of ease gains its ground through words bringing forth inspiration. Mistakes, they happened and the broken heart was the inevitable result. But there’s so much more to you and your life, than a poor decision made from lack of experience. The door to new exciting things is right there.
The poignant song of nighttime introspection comes along with a music video filmed during some of the worst attacks coming from Russian terrorists. It serves multiple meanings – the life of a shy clumsy girl still continues the way it does despite all odds, and life in its uncertainty is so much better with trusted and loved companion. So even though the doodled window with mouth stickers no longer exists, these experiences still do and they will be felt in their own ways by all young people looking to break through their troubles and to find a place in life.
Kelsie Kimberlin is a rising artist who has already earned numerous awards for her music and worked with several Grammy winners and nominees. Being part-Ukrainian, she supports the war-torn Ukraine and has. Several of her music videos and even a full movie have been made in Ukraine, depicting life amid airstrike sirens and martial law. In addition to her efforts supporting peace, Kelsie shoots wonderful music videos in many other incredible locations and writes music that leaves no one indifferent.
