Michellar tackles the dark side of love in new rock single “Don’t Lie To Me”

Michellar is back with a brand new single, a strong-willed “Don’t Lie To Me”. Themed on love and romantic relationships, this song is about what happens, when love has walked out of the scene. This crumbling building, now barely held up by what little hope is left, is about to come down hard as the song goes face-to-face with that now-distant cheating partner.

Let’s be honest, it takes massive effort to go and talk about your feelings about a relationship, and even more so to call it quits. For this reason it feels easier to just fade from sight and hope the other side does the heavy lifting themselves. This seems to have happened in the relationship described by Michellar’s single. Instead of telling the hard to deliver truth, lies are used instead to avoid taking responsibility.

A vibrant alt-rock sound is used to create an accurate visual of the thick emotional haze. Lies and deception have gained enough layers at this point that the song’s character is starting to doubt in herself. When love is replaced by frustration, but the attachment still remains, she starts to really question the other side’s foul behavior.

In the end, “Don’t Lie To Me” acts as a cathartic release of all the pent-up anger, which had been growing ever since the day he started acting off. You’re not crazy or overreacting, and you’re not supposed to accept any lies either. How much of this relationship has been a lie so far, probably almost all of it. Guitar riffs fill in with soaring energy, pushing her forward to taking action and leaving this lying cheat behind. Bye-bye, hope you don’t do the same to your new girl.

This single saw Michellar tackling another dark topic in the world of love, or the subsequent absence thereof. The song, written in a captivating form, allows the listener to relate to the feelings and experiences described in its story, helping to recognise the pain and to let go. Michellar lends her hand to help find the strength to move on from this truthfully numbing pain.
