The sweeping, cinematic opener track lets Andy’s four octave vocal range shine through its vast soundscapes of melancholic yet hopeful undertones. Slow, tentative piano notes mark the somewhat hesitating beginning of the big search for the truth in living, immediately kicked into gear when Andy’s voice joins along with colorful baroque pop.

“Higher Truth” explores spirituality and breaking free from rigid cultural norms in Western society that cap personal growth. The landscape, reminiscent of boundless American land and the deep spirituality of native people who used to live here, becomes a metaphysical searching ground where mountains, deserts, and seas all reflect some part of existence. All of them were around before the societal net of norms, and the song looks for a way out of this net and to reconnect with what it truly means to exist, free of restraints and aware of one’s potential.

This beautifully written, yearning song feels like an anthem for all outsiders out there that feel too uncomfortable and caged when trying to fit in, and not quite sure what it truly means to live. Andy’s emotionally stirring vocals give a voice of reason that not only offers consolation but also stands as a beacon to help find at least a starting point of this long search.

Inspired by classic songwriters like Nick Drake, Lennon and Leonard Cohen, Andy Smythe creates delicate songs layered with meaning. Thematically influenced by living as a human, the larger societal strings and the minute detail of everyday life, Andy Smythe’s thought-provoking music is set to leave a lasting impression.

Andy Smtyhe and his full band will be celebrating the release of this EP with a string of live dates, starting the tour on July 10th at Blackheath Halls, London. More dates will be shared on his social media.
