Kate Pending, a Berlin-based electronic music producer, has recently released a remix of Luke Tangerine’s single “Exoplanet Signal”. Reimagining the song and its cosmic themes in a soft dreampop flare, the remix envelops listeners in gentle melodic haze, where the thoughtful lyrics run deeper. Rather than making the song suitable for dancefloors, Kate Pending created a perfect soulful late night sound of inner exploration.

Luke Tangerine and Kate Pending met each other some years back through Musosoup, and a creative connection was immediately formed. When Luke released his vibrant silver-edged synth-pop single “Exoplanet Signal”, he offered Kate an option to make a remix of it. No creative tethering, just do what feels right. In addition to mutual trust, both artists believe the best things come from creative freedom.
And so, Kate Pending got to work at making a dream-pop rework of the song. Sharp, vibrant edges now softly disappear into velvety depths, setting a comfortable, intimate stage for female vocals. The atmosphere radiates warmth, as textured bassline and gentle blips of synth melodies color the space in soft nocturnal tones. It’s calming, soothing and tranquil, while also lively enough to keep the bodies swaying in its rhythm. A new, emotional side is developed through vocals expressing conflicted feelings and mixed signals, which fits the title really well.
“Exoplanet Signal Remix” is one Kate Pending is most proud of. It was her first serious foray into the world of remixing, and she did a wonderful job at that. She did not cheap out on the work by simply making it a club-focused track but instead took its dreamy core and worked it into something completely new and uniquely hers. This is the kind of remix that is worth listening to, and listeners on Spotify seem to agree, as they have been consistently returning to the song ever since its release day.
