Throughout life, many chances pop up. Some of them got picked up while others remained unreachable for one reason or another. In “Almost”, it’s those chances that escaped, that take the focus point. Specifically, someone really quite special, who happened to cross paths with him and who could’ve been partner for life. Nostalgic and sad voice looks back at that person and how they almost became a chapter in his life. It didn’t.

The inherent sadness as notes from the past are revisited don’t have effect on the rest of the song, particularly the percussion. It walks on with glorious indifference just like life does despite all the tragedies and good times that happen at specific points intime. Though it seems relentless, the course of life carries with it new possibilities. Good news for a person with an open heart cherishing hope, despite the missed opportunities in the past.
Its accompanying music video adds a visual clever twist to the look into the past. The skeletons resemble the relationship that could’ve happened, and its course was seen through the VR set. It’s heavy with subtext, which makes the video intriguing and thought-provoking.
Frank Joshua and his musical partnership with producer Tony White keeps giving wonderful music that never seems to dip in quality. It’s quite rare to find an artist, whose works are this persistently good, but Frank is definitely one of them. His skill at putting difficult to describe emotions into clear poetic lyrics, and giving them an atmospheric musical realm to live in is undeniable, and it keeps on getting better.
