Occurrence, a three-piece band making experimental electronic pop with a flair of dreamy nostalgia, have just reached an important milestone – making music together for 10 years. To celebrate this joyous occasion, the trio of instrumentalist Ken Urban, vocalist and flautist Cat Hollyer and vocalist Johnny Hager decided to something better than a compilation of Best Of’s, and instead they have created an EP reflecting their past, present and future in a collection of the band’s classics, all reimagined.

The name of this EP is very fitting for the occasion, carrying the title “Anniversary” in calligraphic lettering. Inside the celebratory release, there’s a selection of 5 tracks picked from Occurrence’s three earliest recordings and put together to encapsulate that distinct energy of early days. Those tracks have been edited with parts re-recorded or changed entirely, resulting in new, more polished versions of the songs.

The first track of the album is “My Days and Nights Belong to You (2026 Version)” That leading position belongs to this tune for a good reason, for it was the first song the band ever created. Remaking this song was emotional, just imagine the memories that came flooding back when finding and opening that old Logic file.
Haunting and gorgeous then, haunting, gorgeous and very pristine now, the song opens a portal into sweet intoxicating realm of love. With lyrics walking the thin line between obsession and adoration, “My Days and Nights Belong to You” runs on a constant energizing bass surge giving the track that mildly uneasy tone. The unease is further elevated by the fun contrast between the smooth, slow and sweet vocals, and the synth-driven instrumentals carrying an industrial flair.
The song comes along with a music video with the band members performing in a dark space slashed by bright colors. Exactly like the colorful, hypnotic realm the song builds within, and you can enjoy Occurrence’s music video ahead of release day October 09th, now exclusively here:
Obsession part of love is all-encompassing, and so is the song. Unlike the state of mind, though, the song is fun, playful and enticing as it gives a full experience to being so hopelessly in love, without the whole negative side of being actually obsessed with someone. Very good!
