Ashot Danielyan, an accomplished composer and pianist, has just released his newest body of work, an album titled “Make Classical Music Great Again”. Inside the cheekily titled album are a collection of new compositions created on the artist’s favourite instrument, the piano. All of them came to be spontaneously as improvisations evoking different moods and moments in time, and among them “Warm May Night” takes the listeners to the beauty of late spring nights powered by rejuvenated life force.

When listening to the composition, these warm nights that inspired the piece immediately come together in the mind’s eye. The light nights, the moonshine and the smell of freshness coming from all growing things around you. During the nightfall all those sensations become much clearer against the quiet backdrop, and one’s soul can’t help but rejoice.

Embedded in the slowly moving notes are all those minute sensations, from the fresh smell of ground to the sudden invisible trace of scent coming from a nearby flowering plant. The tender sounds from nesting birds and a movement of wild animals can also be sensed within the melodies, which seems like a person slowly walking into the night, breathing in the fresh air and admiring the blossoming nature.

“Warm May Night” and the other improvisations on the new album were all created this year, in 2026. Danielyan was endlessly inspired by the changes and movements of spring and summer, as well as composers like Frederic Chopin, whose romantic flair and harmonies have a clear presence on the charming piano album.
