The House Flies, the Alt Rock sensation hailing from Moline, Illinois, are back with their mesmerizing single “Lost Literature.” This track delivers an emotional experience that feels both cinematic and profoundly reflective. It strikes a powerful yet delicate balance, weaving together emotive melodies, driving drums, and infectious bass lines that create an electrifying backdrop for the raw and vulnerable vocals that soar throughout.

Throughout these releases, the band has traversed the haunting landscapes of goth rock, post-punk, shoegaze, grunge, and melodic guitar music, all while weaving a distinctly Midwestern sense of place into their evocative sound.
“Lost Literature” is a stunning testament to the band’s artistry, standing as their second single and paving the way for the much-anticipated album, Lions and Ores. This captivating song, drenched in an intoxicating sense of solitude, envelops listeners in a dreamy soundscape that evokes the nostalgic essence of shoegaze. The pulsating electronic drumbeat drives the passion forward, while a melodic, danceable bass line ignites an irresistible energy that beckons you to move and lose yourself in the music.
Filled with dark and cinematic textures, the atmosphere of the track feels both cold and inviting. It sweeps you away on a solitary drive through highway nights, where the only sounds are the engine’s roar and the soft crackle of static on the radio. There you sit, pressing the pedal firmly, immersed in longing reflection, sifting through your broken memories as the night envelops you in a reassuring embrace.
“Lost Literature” follows the September 4 single “Derelict Crawl.” Together, these two tracks showcase the distinct approaches The House Flies take to directness: “Derelict Crawl” delivers sheer weight and force, while “Lost Literature” captivates with its melody, rhythm, and an instantly engaging hook.
