Energy Whores, a three-piece avant-electro band has released a new song titled “Army of the Insane”. As suggested by the fiery imagery and its title, it’s a wake-up call with an urgent message, and if you notice the red caps on the cover art, well you know it. That is an actual army of the insane.
The single comes loaded with energy shooting through the fast beats and electro synths. It’s urgent and direct, and leaves no space for hesitation, because you can’t. There’s no time for that. Its gloomy atmosphere holds all the fear and alarm caused by all the propaganda, targeting of the vulnerable and blatantly setting up surveillance systems in bright daylight.
And so, the single is angry, and you hear it clearly as the vocals come in to sing about the crazed army coming in. The voice, which belongs to the band’s leader and vocalist Carrie Schoenfeld, introduces a heavy veil of gloom as she tells about the imminent destruction about to happen. This crowd had been manipulated into hate, and there’s no stopping it now.
The song is as unsettling as the current reality it has arrived to. It’s a truly dystopian era rampant with false news and cover-ups, and it’s in this time when people must be cautious on what to believe as true.
Energy Whores keeps up their battle against the violent absurdity of the world with releases of strong messages. At the same time, the avant outfit blends a variety of genres into one to create a sound that fits the current anxious state of existence to a T.
