“I Levitate” is the new song from Swedish electronic pop artist Karin Turesson under the project Sunstroke Rain, following “Hey You” back in May. On this new single Karin explores deep house influences with remarkable sensibility, crafting a track centered around the feeling you have when you’re first falling in love with someone. The way in which Sunstroke Rain merges alternative pop influences from Björk to Prince is refreshing in today’s electronic music landscape, making “I Levitate” a must listen to anyone.
It’s a dynamic song that expands into kaleidoscopic melodies allowing Karin’s gentle vocals to shine from start to finish, reflecting mostly about how the feeling affects her instead of praising the object of her affections. Her compositions are vulnerable and rooted in unwavering sincerity, offering a space in which real human emotions are at the centre. “I Levitate” mimics perfectly the bubbling euphoria of falling in love like a fizzy well-mixed cocktail: balanced, sweet, light and addictive with enough complexity to make you wonder what’s in it.
Sunstroke Rain’s latest track impresses exactly because of the way it manages to feel simple and intricate at the same time, layering textures and elevating even the most straightforward aspects of it to higher grounds. “I Levitate” delivers everything with heartfelt honesty, being fearless in its own vulnerability and creating a safe space in which the simple act of falling in love is a true force of nature that unites us all.
