Being alone can be a blessing for some people, and a curse for others for whom loneliness might be the worst enemy. The song you’re about to hear is a story of a person for who being alone is exactly that – a deep fear that lies behind the desire of staying close.
Aubrey is a fresh-faced artist from London, creating deep atmospheric pop music. Inspired by the likes of Lana Del Rey and BANKS, she combines vulnerable and personal lyrics with captivating soundscapes that provide the sweet beat for tapping the toe to and a whole lot of emotions to get lost in. Her soft and pleasant vocals caress even as her lyrics express the saddest thoughts.
The artist has just recently dropped her debut single, the wistful and pensive “Stay Longer“. On the surface it sounds like a story of an imminent break-up, but underneath that lies the true reason why she keeps onto those falling relationships. It’s the fear of being left alone, the dark force that runs through the song underneath her sadness, and that pleading note as she asks “Stay a little longer!”
Smooth and deep, “Stay Longer” is a perfect dark electronic pop song and while it sails through dark waters, it never loses that steadfast speed and lightness. Synths provide ear-tickling textures as they change and expand throughout the song, building that imminence underlying the anxiety and fear of being left behind. A thought-provoking message that definitely sheds new light on relationships between people, and simply a gorgeous debut for a lovely new artist!
