We’re glad to announce that Stockholm, Sweden-based metal band Pressure released a brand-new single, entitled “Change Me,” out via Xing Records.
Pioneering a new and exciting subgenre of heavy metal, Story Metal, Pressure are Simon Forsell (guitars, drums, keyboards, backing vocals), Olli Violet (female lead vocals), Olof Jönsson (male lead vocals), and Ignacio Arrúa (bass). Bringing together elements of rock and metal into an intense and eclectic sound that serves as the platform for telling stories inspired by their own lives, Pressure have released two albums over the past couple of years (Path Of A Shadow and In A Dark Heart We Trust). They’re now ready to make Story Metal the leading subgenre of heavy metal music as they further develop it with new songs, musical directions, and epic live performances.
Describing the philosophy behind their lyrics, the band says, “How can you tell a story about life if you haven’t dared to live life to its fullest! Pressure is all about every story, every moment, every Pressure!”
Pressure’s forthcoming single, “Change Me,” was written and composed by band members Simon Forsell, Olof Jönsson, and Olli Violet. The song is about those times when you meet someone and want them to like you; you try your best to be like them, but sometimes this goes too far. The song presents a conversation between two people who really like each other but have a hard time understanding each other and both want to change so that they can be liked by the other.
An epic music adventure, “Change Me” begins with shredding lead guitar riffs and edgy distorted chords from the rhythm guitar, providing the perfect instrumental backing for the song’s soaring vocal melodies. Alternating between the two protagonists in the song’s story during its melancholic verses and joining together nicely during the compelling choruses, the impressive vocals from Olli Violet and Olof Jönsson are also accompanied by dynamic and engaging rhythms from the bass and drums. A captivating minor-key electric guitar solo passage later bridges quite well into the song’s impressive concluding chorus, which reminds the listener that it’s always best to be yourself, so that you can shine among those who like you for who you are.
“Change Me” is quite an enjoyable listen throughout, showcasing Pressure’s brilliant songwriting and superb musicianship; I would highly recommend this track to fans of melodic metal.
