Get your dancing, head-banging shoes on for this one and just believe in the beat! Third Girl from the Left’s brand new single is titled “Dance” and it isn’t for nothing: this is an absolute banger from start to finish. It sounds like nothing Third Girl’s ever done before, and oh it suits her oh so perfectly.
ORDER NOW “DANCE” BY THIRD GILR FROM THE LEFT ON BANDCAMP
Combining elements from the best parts of artists like Kylie Minogue, Jessie Ware, and Björk all at once, “Dance” is a party song for you to loosen up and forget about life – and just dance it out. It is incredibly rare for a dancefloor-ready song like this to work just as well in the privacy of your own home, and this one does. Third Girl’s latest single takes you by the hand and leads you to the dancefloor – even if it’s an improvised one. This track sounds like Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder On the Dancefloor” has finally found its match, and it may as well lose.
What we get from “Dance” is nothing like the soft introspection of a synthpop we got from the great “Silent Sea“; this time around we get rock and roll guitars, electronic drums, and one hell of a bassline. Oh Lord, that bassline! This is like a Le Tigre bassline, mind you.
It invites you to stand up and shake it, no matter where you are or what you’re doing. “I wanted ‘Dance’ to conjure visions of someone’s first-time festival experience. A sensory overload. A time to be free, to forget, to shake off and explore who you are and what you can be.”, The artist says about the track and there isn’t any way to put it into better words.
This is electronic music at its highest point. It fuses everything from disco to dance-punk into one Transformer of a song. This track sounds current, it sounds old-school, it sounds like something we’ve already heard before but mostly it sounds completely fresh and original. If this girl keeps it up like this, the World won’t be enough to accommodate her.
