Matthias Schorer AKA De Antiquis Et Novis is a German composer and producer who’s been making some of the most interesting electronic music out there today. Going from house music to EDM, he knows exactly what he’s doing and how to construct a song like very few others. His latest release, “Dreams”, just dropped and it’ll be a part of his dance music album, scheduled to be released in the second semester of 2023.

“Falling Stars”, the first release from said dance album, had almost a tropical house feeling to it with Jessie Ware-style vocals and pianos. On “Dreams”, however, Matthias goes in a different direction. His latest track features guest vocals from Elise, a young singer who has an uncanny ability to portray the exact emotion that the instrumentals and lyrics need. The song tells the story of a young woman who is feeling happy and content with her luck and her lover, and not entirely sure if all of this is real or she’s just dreaming.
It’s an interesting concept for a song, perfectly executed from start to finish – it is electronic dance music, but it’s subtle and never once blows up in your face. It’s just as delicate as the lyrics require it to be, and that’s not a small feat when it comes to songs like this. It starts with a lovely harp that flows very smoothly into the beat of what could almost be a Robyn song, and it comes to show just how good of a producer he is.
“Dreams” is an incredible example of exactly how smart De Antiquis Et Novis is when composing and producing his music, and another excellent teaser from his upcoming dance-inspired album.
