“I’m in the Tunnel, I don’t know if I get out.” This is a line from Laurelight’s new song “The Tunnel”, which is part of the upcoming eponymous EP set to release on June 23rd. This energy-driven song is the embodiment of a seemingly endless road you have ended up on. It’s a Tunnel, with no options to turn off this path and all you have to do is keep going.

This new song reminds me of a recent bike trip, where at some point I decided to try a new path through the forest, thinking of it as a shortcut path to where I wanted to get to. Que to the forcefully incoming panic attack in the network of paths deep in the forest as the road seemed to not want to end, and the only thing I could do is keep going. Laurelight has embedded that strong-willed “Keep It Up” energy into the song, similar to the energy I had to collect to keep myself going.
Laurelight’s Tunnel is, however, not necessarily an actual never-ending forest path, but rather a visualization of life’s paths that a person walks and makes decisions in. The strikingly anthemic alt-pop song features a soaring chorus, a solid speedy atmosphere reminiscent of running through the darkness, and lyrics that are insightful, eloquent, and very captivating. As it’s not enough yet, the track also has an uplifting instrumental solo, a cherry on the cake, and an extra dose of inspiring energy to carry on.
