NASMORE Gets Real with “When It Feels So Fake”

After the epic collaboration and well-received single, “Welcome To The Hell,” Canada’s Nasmore returns once again, recording with legendary guitarist Neil Taylor (Tears for Fears, Tina Turner, and many more), to drop a remarkable fusion of indie pop, electronica, and hard rock with “When It Feels So Fake.” The new single drops on 09-08-2023. This time around, the credits of the new song cite “Nasmore & Friends” on the track.

Those friends are artists Gabriel and Waz contributing vocals. Aside from the eclectic mix of sounds making up the composition, the lyrical content is thought-provoking and centered around perceptions of false pretense. This gives the tune an underlying introspective, somber vibe which I really appreciate, and delivers the opportunity for deeper connections with the song for a listener, in my opinion, than the average Pop song. Not that there’s anything wrong with the tried and tested formula of a “get the crowd moving and partying” pop style, it’s just that with this song, you get the best of both worlds.

Nasmore wears the dual hats of a songwriter and a producer, crafting meticulously. A lot to be said of his auditory vision, if you will, as a composer. In that sense, “When It Feels So Fake” isn’t just a song; it’s an anthem for anyone who has ever felt adrift, tapping into what seems to be a societal norm these days in the struggle of sorting out our mental health and well-being. It’s a reminder that authenticity is a powerful force, something many of us, if not all of us, long for.

Don’t just take it from me! With over 800K unique listeners, 2 million streams, and a growing community of 30K followers on Spotify, Nasmore does indeed appear to be resonating with that authenticity. I’d recommend this track for fans of Imagine Dragons, The Neighbourhood, OneRepublic, and, even if perhaps to a lesser extent, for fans of Grandson.
