Australian singer-songwriter Clare Easdown has just revealed her newest single “Scopolamine”, a tear-drenched song of real deep heartbreak. Titled after an anticholinergic drug originally sourced from belladonna, “Scopolamine” is an echoing song of a shattered heart sunken down into an abysmal level of sadness as it’s pining for lost love never to return again.

Longing, lusting, and physically feeling unable to be without the sweet sweet presence of the person most loved, “Scopalamine” is surrounded by a chilly fog blanket of despair. Clare’s vocals hit the pained state with immense clarity as her words of endless yearning echo into the abyss in the full knowledge that they won’t be heard by the beloved. Still, the melancholic guitars, slow percussion, and sad ethereal voice keep flowing with quiet hope that the bleeding tears in her heart will someday heal.
At its core “Scopalamine” is a shadowy tearful version of a love song. The love and adoration are burning brighter than ever, but they’re met with radio silence from the beloved person. Clare Easdown works through desperation, hopelessness, and the realization that what she desires so much will likely never become reality. In order to keep the rawness present in her voice and lyrics, Clare has also mixed and mastered the song herself, offering the truest form of what it feels like to be invisible and alone with the burning bleeding heart of deep love.
