LT1KF UBS ROUND-UP BRAND NEW GEMS FOR YOU WEEK 42

Hey, this is your round-up for #LT1KF, Unknown But Essentials! or UBS, and this time I have for you these five acts that you should check out right away!

BON FEU “Everlasting Flowers”. Released October 20th

BON FEU is the singer, songwriter, and musician Marcus Valance and producer and guitarist, Joel Bogen, and “Everlasting Flowers” is the second single from their upcoming album “Strange Place”. A social biopic telling stories that resonate through generations.

There are a few hidden stories within ‘Everlasting Flowers’. But the title of the song derives from Operation Desert Fox in 1998 – a major four-day bombing campaign on Iraqi targets by the US and UK; So Everlasting Flowers symbolises the need for peace while ‘You’re feeling really smart, so you launch an operation start the show. In lack of inspiration, you’re tieing up your confidence in love…’, condemns the actions of the US & UK.

“Is really important to mention the relevance of the song’s meaning in today’s horrific climate. -That it reaches out in hope to the raw humanity of people for peace.” Marcus Valance

Minami Deguchi “Weight of my Crimes”. Released October 20th

Minami in his own words: “Former emo kid who writes songs about life and reflections, the ideas we romanticize, the hardship of taking accountability of wrongs and many more. Dedicated to fans of bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, ONE OK ROCK, Pierce The Veil, etc.”

“Weight Of My Crimes came at a time where I was reflecting my actions after hearing about the people I’d hurt through leaving my hometown in Warrambool to pursue music in Melbourne. The lyrics reflect my thoughts of what I thought i deserved – things like abuse, guilt, dysfunctional relationships, etc, while the instrumentals also represent the time – the chord progression in sections like the solo shows my cultural and musical roots that lay in J-Rock (bands such as The BONEZ, ONE OK ROCK, WANIMA, etc). I was able to incoporate these instrumentals after moving from Country Australia to the City, as I was in a place where Asian culture and music was not seen as Alien culture.”

Double Triangle “Peony Blossom”. Released October 13th

Like many independent artists nowadays, Double Triangle has a day job to help him pay the bills but fighting to push for his passion, music. Some of his influences that we can find in his music are to mention a few: Early Depeche Mode, Erasure, Röyksopp, Jean-Michel Jarre, Groove Armada, Deadmau5, and Justice.

I wrote the song as a piano piece one day the melody was in my head took a while to craft it.

“Had inspirations from a few sources The Smiths but on the piano. Metronomy. Was then going for a sound of 70s French electronic music inspired by a film a saw as a child L’maitres d’temps that had a similar vibe and my name Double Triangle comes from a spacecraft in that film. Art by Moebius which also inspires a lot of my look and music I make. This track really felt where I’d hit where I wanted to be for a sound.”

Drosz “Feel This Way”. Released September 29th

Drosz and RIC808 were cousins and thanks to their uncle who was part of the music business they were introduced to the music and the industry from a young age. Sadly RIC808 passed away earlier this year and Drosz and his uncle decided to release this track as a single, earlier than they expected but they felt the songs should be heard. The intention is to bring light to the greatness RIC808 had with his production style and creativity.

The uptempo beat on “Feel This Way” is undeniable and sure to make music listeners of the genre get up, dance, and have a good time.

“Feel This Way was really just me and my cousin RIC808 creating music for the sake of art. Anytime we created music, we just wanted to be in our creative bag and just keep the creativity free and loose. We never planned how we were going to make a track or what we wanted it to sound like. We just went in the lab and created off feel.”
