Edie Yvonne returns to reveal her new upcoming single “Girl Code” which will be out November 22nd. Following the previous, uplifting, and bold single “Queen Bee”, the artist now shows a more inward-looking and softer side of what it feels like to be a teen facing rapidly changing environments and relationships. This new single is an honest and questioning look into the bustling and confusing teenagehood.

Having recently started high school, singer-songwriter Edie Yvonne has plenty of first-hand experience with how intense life as a teen can be. The volatile, challenging nature of friendships and relationships, mood shifts, and sometimes endless drama put a lot of pressure on a questioning mind, and “Girl Code” was born as an outlet for those thoughts.
The song strikes as a diary-esque emotional outpour of unanswered questions and pain surrounded by soft nocturnal bedroom pop sound. Lost friends, people she thought she knew well becoming distant strangers, undone promises, and the questionable ‘girl code’ meet lyrics of the heart and voice that feels the despair creeping on. The artist addresses the constant change and the ensuing chaos it creates in her life, and she also leaves the song open-ended as a clear hint of how devastating some changes can be.
Edie Yvonne’s music has the power to be uplifting, but also understanding as is the case of “Girl Code”. Highly recommend listening if you’re struggling with situations like that as well, or perhaps want to take a look back to remember the darker side of busy teenagehood.
