Gods & Devils by Just One Fix is a thrashtastic metal banger that harkens back to the days of Nuclear Assault, early Slayer, and initially reminded me at the beginning of Megadeth’s “Holy Wars”.
ORDER “GODS AND DEVILS” ON BANDCAMP NOW!
The beauty of a band like this is that they know when to bring the fastcore, and they also know when to slow it down and bring some fucking heavy riffage. The vocals are my favorite type of metal vocals, a mix of clean and guttural and in your face without sounding like The Cookie Monster. Reminds me a bit of a mix of DRI style vocals with some Sepultura style vocals.
That guitar solo totally slays and sounds great over the slow riffage and rapid-fire double bass up your ass.

Lyrically, it seems to attack the idea of the divine right of kings and attacks it in clear and distinct manners. I appreciate its use of James as an allusion to the King James Bible. My first thought was that on one level this isn’t really relevant since I was thinking of old European monarchies supported by the Christian church.
But after a couple of listens, I thought more about how must the theocracy part is relevant even in places like America where I live since the religious right and Evangelicals have so much sway in our government, and no political leader (that I’m aware of) has run for office openly admitting that they are an atheist; in fact, I think many pretend to faith. So, on that level fuck yeah, these lyrics work.

Also, the social studies teacher in me has to acknowledge that there are monarchies and full-on theocracies in the world, so while I may hear this and think pre-modern history from a Eurocentric point of view, from a global view it’s fucking right on target.
I love the live music, so I here’s sick live video (Though I do wish there was a more recent one):
