The Bloodlin3 trio are back with a new single titled “No Mercy” that dropped last week on 05-07-24. While last year’s full-lengthy album “Mercy” had you kickin back, vibin, and saying “oh, mercy!” This new single, featuring the legendary rapper Twista, goes for the figurative jugular as “N-O-M-E-R-C-Y” bridges each chorus to a tongue twisting verse by each MC. No strangers to featuring notable and legendary rappers on their tracks (Bizzy Bone featured on a couple from their previous album); Doing a track with Twista is a major “checkmark” on their list of influences that include the aforementioned Bone Thugs, Twista, TechN9ne, & Eminem. One thing I really appreciate about this rap group, Bloodlin3 a band of brothers-based Kentucky and Texas, is their vocalization about not fitting the “hip hop narrative.” Artistically, they are consciences around wanting to keep the sound gritty, and true to the culture, but at the same time embody their own style and mindfully avoid using cuss words when writing their rhymes. Something that makes them quite unique and distinct.
They have expressed their ethos as “We are still trying to change the game and reset the cookie cutter sound we hear today.” This new single is the first of many to come towards a new album sometime in the near future. We don’t know much about the new album, only that the first step in that direction is heavier, a transition from “Mercy” to “No Mercy” moving forward.
The group’s been active in sharing their music, recently being featured on the Vlogs “PodzQuad,” “Too Lit Mafia,” and “DonVon.” I highly recommend you check those out on YouTube. As with the previous album, this single was produced by Virtuosic Productions
