Words are a relatively powerful method of communication, but more often than not they fail us right when getting a message across is most vital. Sandy King, a rockstar and singer with much life experience, brings forth a new single that speaks of such moments of intense misunderstanding between friends, family or lovers. “No Words” is the tale of feeling alone because of how inefficient our language is in times of need.
It all begins with a disagreement on any given subject, when it becomes apparent that it’s almost impossible to truly express what you’re feeling. At worst you’re grossly misunderstood and taken wildly out of context, at best you get 20% of what you’re feeling successfully across and then rest in the person’s arms feeling defeated with your still hidden 80%. Would it be so great if there was another, more failproof way to express yourself?
Sandy King doesn’t have a better option for communication, but what she can and will offer, is a glimpse of hope and a warm hand of understanding. “No Words” stands strong on its anthemic guitar-driven pop-rock foundation with its face against the wind. “There are no words to make you understand” is a powerful line of a person defeated by language, who’s just about to get up and walk away.
Sandy King’s way of turning despair as great as this into a song most understanding of the struggle is a gift. While there’s sadly no cure for misunderstanding, it helps to know it’s not just you are being daft and incapable of speaking what needs to be said – we’re all cursed that way.
