Spanish artist and electronic mastermind Carlos Ucedda returns with “Secret Relief”, his latest solo track and first one since the stunning “At the Bottom” back in March. Carlo has a way of bending synths and electronic beats to his will that feels utterly unique and like nothing else right now. On “Secret Relief”, we get to see him yet again expanding into uncharted territories and creating a sound that is haunting and beautiful in equal measure, self-immersed in theatricality and filled with cinematic visions.
His latest single shows Carlos embracing intimacy in a new way, and also experimenting with different production styles, techniques and soundscapes. “Secret Relief” flows with religious sounds and imagery, boldy adding on both orchestrations and heavy distorted guitars, making up for an atmosphere that evokes something that feels holy and dark at once. The most experimental he’s been in a little while, “Secret Relief” is a song that captures a myriad of feelings, moments and assertions calling back to both comfort and doubt.

Heavily inspired by 80s new wave acts like Erasure and Human League, Carlos also throws in dashes of the early 90s electro-rock made by Depeche Mode, and it feels absolutely exhilarating. The kind of song that keeps you at the edge of your seat waiting for what else is to come next, “Secret Relief” truly sounds like nothing he’s ever done before – and yet, his identity as an artist and songwriter is completely ingrained in it every step of the way. On his new single, Carlos outdid himself once again by giving us a beautifully painted landscape of opposites being constantly pressed against each other, but always in search of the light. And he definitely finds it.
