Jonny Herman’s optimism weaves its way through romantic new single “Oriana”

British alternative folk artist Jonny Herman follows the success of his “Old Romantics” single with a BRAND-NEW track, “Oriana”. The singer and songwriter makes indie folk music that also incorporates elements from indie rock and chamber pop, with a dash or two of synths if they feel right, creating a whimsical and complex universe for his songs to inhabit.

On new single “Oriana”, Jonny Herman continues the romantic themes explored on previous tracks and carefully curates at atmosphere of optimism and reflection upon new love in a very mature and healthy way. The track was written and produced by Jonny himself alongside Leeds producer and musician Bob Cooper, and it comes as the second track from his upcoming debut EP Old Romantics.

A song that revels in honesty, openness and vulnerability, “Oriana” stands as an indie folk masterpiece marked by smart and interesting production choices. The instrumentations sound both firmly grounded and guided by the percussion and the strumming of the acoustic guitar, but somehow still end up with a certain airiness to it like it’s soaring above and flowing along the breeze. It sounds ethereal and beautiful all throughout, even more so as Jonny sings about a love that is right with contemplative care.

Jonny started his musical career as a drummer and played in several bands before finally embarking on a solo mission back in 2018. Influenced by acts such as Arctic Monkeys, Weyes Blood and Father John Misty, Jonny Herman paints soundscapes that feel like the past and present combined. With an excellent use of percussion and pacing, his musicality is rich and intimate in a sophisticated twirl of lyricism unlike most. A talent that is definitely here to stay, Jonny Herman gets more intricate and truthful with each new release and leaves us waiting to see what else he’s got on his sleeves other than his heart.
