Audra Watt debuts with a warm motherhood single “Bullet Trains”

Days are long, but years go by at lightning speed, or like Bullet Trains, as Audra Watt has put it in her debut song. This fresh Nashville-based artist has long wanted to make music, but now as a married mother of two kids, Audra Watt has started to bring her long-standing dreams to life. Cue new tune, “Bullet Trains”, out since August 9th!

Written in heartwarming americana-country blend with strummed guitars providing caressing melodies, Audra Watt’s first song takes the listeners into the joys and troubles of motherhood. From the days of being an expecting mother, up to the day the children fly from the nest, “Bullet Trains” looks at the fleeting moments through blue-twinged sentimental lyrics. It does feel like it was only yesterday they were so little, and now they’ve grown up and becoming more and more independent. There’s pride in her voice, but also sadness over how quickly time passes.

“As I approached my 40th birthday, I realized that while my life was great, it felt incomplete without music. I decided to refocus on it and took to heart the advice I’d once received: “write what you know.” The emotional push and pull of motherhood, especially the bittersweet moments when my kids, then 6 and 8, were becoming more independent, inspired me to start writing “Bullet Trains.”

The song’s hook was born from advice I received at my baby shower: “write everything down” because “the days are long, but the years are short.” The guitar riff and timing were inspired by the Avett Brothers’ “Ballad of Love and Hate”—a song that’s incredible recorded but even more powerful live. The first two verses are autobiographical “on the nose” and the bridge and last verse are projected into the future to describe how I imagine it would be to have a teenage child. “

This almost nostalgic song came to life with the help of producer Andrew King, a seasoned professional she found on Instagram while looking for a studio. The connection of musicianship sparked instantly, and the song became a polished gem through Andrew’s expertise and skilled session musicians. For Audra, “Bullet Trains” is one of the most personal songs she has written, and it stands as a powerful and impactful debut that calls to cherish the moment you have with the loved ones.

Audra Watt’s love for music has burned bright ever since she was a kid recording music onto cassettes from radio and filling up all notebooks with lyrics. The inkling was put on hold as career choices were made, and soon other life events followed, keeping her busy. But that wasn’t forever and now, Audra Watt has taken on the journey as an artist finally releasing music like she wanted to. In addition to fulfilling her own dreams, the fresh singer-songwriter encourages others to do the same. It’s never too late!
