German artist and electronic music mastermind Luke Tangerine isn’t stopping any time soon; he’s just released new single “Magic Moment” in collaboration once again with Austrian singer Robson Darker. This is yet another outstanding track, let me just say it right upfront.

Their previous joint effort was the stunning “In den Tiefen der Nacht“, back in April, which showed us Luke experimenting with post-punk influences for the very first time. Now, on “Magic Moment”, the pair came up with a track that is filled with new wave gothic inspirations and sounds like a true nostalgic journey – even more than before. Over the course of the years, Luke has proven himself as one of the most innovative and interesting minds working on the electronic music realm as he knows like very few to completely change his approach and production style while still sounding like himself every step of the way.
This is exactly what we get on this Robson Darker collaboration. Luke is diving deeper into the gothic new wave of the early-to-mid 80s and he does it in the way only he could. It’s breath-taking stuff, really. The “Magic Moment” refers to meeting someone special for the first time, as beautifully sung by Robson in German, and follows through the aftermath of said encounter. It is a beautiful song, with hopeful undertones of uncertain love and romance that fit the post-punk aesthetic very nicely.
Robson’s deep vocals and flawless delivery contribute perfectly for the completion of the atmosphere created by the instrumentals, that are centered on distant guitars and electronic drums lifted by oneiric synthlines and impeccable harmonies. From start to finish “Magic Moment” feels like a dream, wrapped in a nostalgia cloth but still finding its way ahead. An electrifying and ecstatic track that features an excellent use of space and sparseness, “Magic Moment” comes as a certainty that their collaborative album, with an expected release for September, will be one for the history books.
