American artist Katie Belle just shared her BRAND-NEW song “West Coast”, a lovely indie pop ballad about the pursuit of her own musical dreams and aspirations. Searching for inspiration on the stories of other artists that have done it before her, the Atlanta-based singer, songwriter and actress shows immense vulnerability and strength as she sings about yearning for a new chapter.
Rooted in an incredibly realistic mixture of hopefulness and reality, Katie was inspired by the magic that surrounds the Los Angeles artistic scene. The artist sings about leaving her town behind and dives deep into the conflicting emotions that blossom with said move. Katie lays her soul bare on “West Coast”, a new track that follows a successful string of pop singles she’s been releasing since 2016.
On her new track, Katie finds a delicate balance between those paradoxical feelings: she knows this will not be a journey free of difficulties, there will be time spent missing her home and her family but, in the end of the day, the piano-centric ballad rises with trusting and enthusiastic confidence. Her willing to move and kick start her career is definitely not a new feeling, but Katie and co-writer Anton Soder did a wonderful job in portraying everything with both doubt and certainty as she navigates through new musical landscapes that suit her very nicely and highlight her celestial vocals.
Produced by Los Angeles-based musician Fabio Campedelli, the slow buildup of the instrumentation and impeccable vocal performance contribute for the creation of an atmosphere that is hauntingly blissful. A beautiful and exquisite ode to the City of Angels, “West Coast” stands as Katie Belle’s most vulnerable song up until this point. There is light and hope gleaming through it, exploring the never changing and ever-present allure of the city but with sensible caution.
