The Muster Point Project visits a place of childhood and realizes: “This Town Has Changed”

Canadian band The Muster POINT Project have just released a nostalgic single “This Town Has Changed”, a tale of lovely teenage memories. Following the path of band’s frontman revisiting his childhood town and reuniting with old pals, the single earns a twinge of poignancy, as he realizes things have changed drastically since he left many moons ago, and he is mostly a sidenote in many of those memories.

Embarking on a roadtrip down the memory lane, the americana-flavored folk song builds an atmosphere full of happy memories of funny things that happened in teenagehood. Through slow, swaying melodies and heartwarming guitar chords, reuniting with old friends takes place along with the realization of how much older everyone is now. Those happy memories find their sharp contrast in this cold and frayed place.

And when those friends stayed in that town making more memories together, the band’s frontman Kevin Franco found himself feeling as a bit of an outsider now. That’s when the poignant tone sets in – place that felt so familiar and fun felt old, cold and distant, and the friends he once knew so well have a stronger bond with each other than with him. So even if he was still welcomed with open arms, the sensed distance feels uncomfortable.

The Muster Point Project "This Town Has Changed"

This reflective look-back song will be part of The Muster Point Project’s upcoming album, set to be released end of November. Named “It Was Here He Received His Only Formal Education”, the LP will feature plenty of thought-provoking yet catchy indie folk done in the warm, cozy storyteller way this band has mastered. The song’s main character, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Franco, is the force behind this project and loves creating music that connects with, and unites listeners through universally shared life experiences.
