Irian Darkwood, Canadian rising metal star, is set to unveil her new single “Greensleeves” this August. Sharpened to a fine point, the song stabs through humor at the creepy experiences women experience on the Internet. “Greensleeves” is here to yell “You have been spotted” at perpetrators and to give a nod of understanding to women, who have been targeted on the Interwebs by some sort of weirdo.

The creeping lowlifes of the Internet get dissolved by strong guitar riffs, accompanied by echoed yells and screeches of disdain towards yet another creepy incident. “Greensleeves” comes packed with a hybrid of hard rock and metal and approaches the issue of internet creeps targeting women with tongue-in-cheek humor, running beats and plenty of riffs, and a whole lot of attitude.
Irian Darkwood uses her own experiences with such predatory guys to give out a burst of uplifting energy for anyone in need for some. When the experience might slip away at your sense of security and self-worth, the single brings it all back along with powerful sense of empowerment. “Greensleeves” loves fun and encourages everyone to go the fuck you and block route on those stinky creepers.
There’s even more of that sweet spiky humor in the single’s music video. A shadowy hand muppet speaking the lines of the creep asking too much too fast, scrolling the phone while looking visibly disturbed, and typing comments on a desktop computer like a hacker are just a few amusing and relatable scenes. There’s a bunch more moments to illustrate the bladed lyrics, so be sure to check out the video too.
