Very few things are as emotionally taxing as having to leave someone that you’re still in love with. British artist Jacre explores that theme in its tear-drenched form in his newest single “If You See Her”. The result is a beautiful, loving piano ballad that looks through his own pain of the heart and asks to keep company of the loved one, for she needs it more than him.

In the beginning there’s a void, a vast emptiness left by the loved person no longer in his life. That same void is where the ballad finds is quiet beginning with soft piano chords and hushed vocals now in need of speaking out the pain inside. Among the slowly building piano-led atmosphere, the singer makes the void his own and wishes to spare the beloved person of this kind of despair and loneliness. Thus, he urges through breaking voice to close the door and go find her to keep her company in his absence.
As the ballad climbs up through the tear-drenched path of inner emptiness, strings join to add intensity to his pleas. One of the more painful lines telling to remind her that her heart belongs to her again, marks a particularly bitter regret of making that dear person hurt that way. But in the end, the singer left in the void of his making finds solace in the fact someone is there to look after her.
“If You See Her” is a track that took a while to find its final form. In the beginning it was just the beginning of the song that Jacre aka Julian Ramson had created and publicized on his Facebook, where it quickly became his followers’ favourite. It wasn’t until the beginning of this year, 2024, that the song became finished with the addition of an emotionally weighted cello part. There’s also an unusual key change present in the song, which became a crucial part in heightening the emotional turmoil of this untimely breakup, giving its pain a brutally sharp edge.
While this new piece of music fits into the category of tearjerker ballads and carries slight similarities with Adele and the likes, Jacre’s musical output defies being put in a single category. The singer-songwriter finds inspiration from across the board and has a knack for emotive, poetic lyricism favouring melancholic storytelling. That, accompanied by beautiful, captivating hooks, makes Jacre a bright and exciting musician in British music scene, where he already gathers favorable attention from fans and industry peers.
