Irish indie rock quartet Pork Pie is about to release their highly anticipated second studio album Golden Leaf Sheets and it’s an unmatched explosion of energy. The follow-up to their debut Pterodactyl from 2021 flows with expertly inserted influences that range from 60s garage rock to oldschool blues and pyschedelia, combined into one flaming hot and fun experience.

Backed by the excellent single “Helplessly Waiting” from last July, the Dundalk-based band is at it again with their own brand of urgent indie rock filled with intricate melodies and impeccable guitar work. On Golden Leaf Sheets the band expands upon their own sonic palette by creating an atmosphere that feels exhilarating, sounding like a throwback to a time when rock and dance music were cut from the same cloth.
Their sounds are fuller and richer on this new project as the band seem to be having the time of their lives on each song. Across the ten tracks and roughly forty minutes that compose the album, we get to hear and feel Pork Pie diving deep into 60s inspired classic rock anthems that sound absolutely timeless. The production on Golden Leaf Sheets does an incredible job by giving the album almost no contemporary references, focusing on classical cadences and melodies and resulting in a very refreshing sound for 2024.
The unique blend of psychedelic guitar riffs, organ sounds and thumping bass lines fill the room with raw live music energy, and that can be felt all throughout the record from the stellar opener “City Lights” to the epic seven-minutes-long closer “Cabin Fever”. Golden Leaf Sheets is permeated by long instrumental breaks that further enhance the live music experience and work as finely placed interludes, giving the album an extra layer of depth and thought.

The album that will once and for all circle them on the map, the sophomore effort from Pork Pie is drenched in psychedelia and hand-picked influences, carefully crafting a record that definitely paints its own landscape and feels eclectic and thrilling.
