This October, Ebony Buckle unleashes her new full-length album “Hearts Get Started”, featuring her boldest sound yet. Created as a conceptual record, the LP illustrates the artist’s musical journey from the beginning steps to the current ERA AND does so in a captivating and mesmerizing way.

On this album, the magic of growth and self-discovery stand as main themes and influence the LP’s spiritually elevating sound, which is driven further by Ebony Buckle’s sonic explorations. And thus, “Hearts Get Started” is shaped by a wide array of influences and carries a hybrid of freshness intertwined with bits of familiarity. Buckle’s evocative vocals narrate the journey, which reflects the ongoing hidden battles of living.
There are ten tracks on the album, with three of them released as singles, and they’re intended to fit into the full journey like pieces of puzzle. Some of the tracks were written a long time ago, making this particular release a bit like a prequel to Ebony’s previous record “Disco Lasers”, the story of becoming.
As the songs speak an individual story enclosed in a fitting musical setting, they fit together to give a lifelike capture on the ebbs and flows of emotions. Even in the face of struggles, like in “Golden Sand”, Ebony Buckle keeps up a light of hope to lead the way forward. There’s also a bolder tone present on the album to contrast the ethereal piano-led introspective pieces with some rock flair. “The Whiskey Song” is a marching storyteller tune that combines sweetly smirking folky rock with fresh takes in rhythm and vocals.
Hearts Get Started is a collection of songs written over the last 8 years. I like to think of it as little snapshots of life. Or maybe if my brain was a hotel and you could wander round the hallways, opening doors and meeting the characters that lie there. Each song is its own little world. This is actually like a prequel to my first album Disco Lasers. In lockdown in 2020, we started recording and writing and Disco Lasers came out as a very ethereal conceptual album.
Hearts Get Started is all the songs we were going to release as they were the moments that got me up to that point. If you haven’t heard my music, get ready for some whimsical storytelling and ethereal vocals. I write about Wales in space, spies on the underground, foxes in London and everything in between! Think Kate Bush in space!

“I Think I Just Saved My Own Life” is the third single coming from the album, and it comes with a haunting music video bordering between hallucinations and reality. Its story, escaping the darkness, is depicted beautifully through choreography and the scenery. Check it out below:
Ebony Buckle is a London-based singer-songwriter with her roots in Australia. She’s producing music with her husband Nick Burns, blending gentle atmospheric acoustic sounds together with the energizing bits of pop and rock. The results lend for a beautiful scene for life-inspired stories played out on a grand scale, giving emphasis on the minute moments that shape our existence as humans.
