“Excuse Me While I Go Fall In Love” was written by Mary Knoblock as an homage to her fans and serves as a prelude to her Halo album February. Taking in all of her fanbase’s love and support as inspiration, Mary crafted a beautifully dreamy track as a ‘thank you’ note. The first taste from her highly anticipated next studio release, scheduled for 2025, shows Mary expanding upon her dreamy sound. Oneiric vocals fill the track, as fast-paced electronic drumming trails it throughout towards something utterly unique. “Excuse Me…” features some of Mary’s most candid writing to date, which can also be felt through her delivery.
Airy and breathy vocals engulf the track, creating an atmosphere that falls somewhere between the realms of Björk and Caroline Polachek. On her new track, Mary bares it all with vulnerable honesty and sings “Excuse Me…” with the same candid openness in which someone talks in their sleep. The production elevates her neo-classical and avant-garde styling to new heights of inventiveness, creating conflicting atmospheres that seem to be sewn together seamlessly.
“Excuse Me…” shines through an uptempo beat that feel reminiscent of some The Waterfall tracks, whilst going back to the delicate and fragile songwriting found on Halo. Mary Knoblock stands as a truly unique artist, navigating through the real and imaginary with the same ease as someone would wake up. She weaves an intricate pattern of electronic inspirations that fuel her inner desire to create something that resonates with people. “Excuse Me While I Go Fall in Love” is a song that creates its space and thrives in the fleeting moments that reside “between the click of the light and the start of the dream“, as the immortal Arcade Fire once said.
