The Agency… unveils “Harbour Song”, their new melancholic single

On November 1st, The Agency… releases a new song “Harbour Song”. The band, renowned for their knack for eery melancholy music, loves to tell stories veiled in myth and mystery. This time it’s a duet formed in a hazy, seafoamy atmosphere and it’s based on the myth of Hero and Leander, a goddess and her lover. But while the myth itself ends in tragedy, “Harbour Song” leaves it up to the listener to set a conclusion.

Gently like seawaves on a windless morning, the guitar melodies of “Harbour Song” create a delicate backdrop for the story brought on by love. The narrative is told through the voices of three singers, a soft-spoken calling by the band’s mastermind Steven K Driver playing the part of Leander, answered under the name of Hero the goddess by an enchanting duo of Elise Shields and Rosa Thomas. And thus, the story of romance takes place by the harbor, lovers separated by a sea covered in thin ice.

An air of caution surrounds the story as sweet vocals dance together in this love-intoxicated waltz. As the ice cracks under his footsteps and the inviting glow of Hero’s lantern disappears into the night, the enchanting voice of his love just keeps repeating “You must keep on going.” And so, he does, as the mesmerizing song spirals higher into the echoing chorus of love hiding its fatal thorns. Whether Leander finally reaches into the embrace of Hero, remains open for the listener to figure out.

The Agency... "Harbour Song"

This eery tale of romance will be part of the band’s upcoming album as its debut single giving the first taste of what new stories The Agency… has prepared. There will definitely be a lot more haunting themes in warm folky sound, roots deeply embedded in the existential troubles of humankind.
