South African singer-songwriter Rebecca Helen has just recently released a fresh single titled “Sensations”. Created on an ethereal place where pop meets house, the song dives deep into uplifting emotions and fully enjoys the intoxicating flow, like a cocktail after a hot summer day.
Flowing synths speaking of a higher plane full of sensuality, and a particularly solid bass set the base for this musical beverage designed to bring you to a whole new place away from mundane reality. Here, Rebecca’s pure vocals inspire to let go of all trouble for a while and to dance freely to the accompanying house beat. For 4 minutes everything is alright, and you will emerge…very likely wanting more.
The title “Sensations” describes the euphoric emotions we get from a variety of sources, and with the way the single has been constructed, this song can be a source too. When the mood is first set, rising arpeggios come in to bring an extra dose of chill. And by the time of culmination, “Sensations” enjoys pure euphoria.
A typical day in the studio jamming and playing around with chords led to the idea of writing a song about the different Sensations you feel when in love and desire and how to express that through music. Rebecca came up with cool chords and Sasha felt inspired by that progression and sprang into action and created the beat. We felt we wanted to make a song that didn’t have a typical structure and deep house felt like the right vibe and a new genre we wanted to explore.
