Before moving to the United States, Nick toured extensively with his previous band Stray Blue and that experience really shows through. On “Get There Before Noon” the artist creates a dense yet accessible atmosphere, channelling several different influences into one cohesive track. Its use of ambiance is unparalleled, serving nostalgic tones with grungy guitars, catchy riffs and an impeccable vocal performance.
Packed with groovy synths and psychedelic guitars, “Get There Before Noon” stands out as an excellent debut single for the artist, who gets to highlight his influences and lets them shine at their own pace. Inspired by a very real and self-explanatory story, the track was written by Nick after a particularly late and long hangout at his apartment in New York. The musician had to get to the studio to record for another artist, and his timeframe is commented explicitly on the title. It’s a fun anecdote that only contributes to the song’s authenticity and raw feelings of a dragged-out hungover struggle during the morning.

The song is accompanied by a very interesting music video that features beautiful models and playing around with chains and eventually tying Nick up with them. It does a great job in symbolizing the overall feeling of being stuck and not being able to get somewhere on time, until the chains are sawn off and allowing Nick to move. The visuals fit the thematics explored by Nick very well, providing a sense of uneasiness and anxiety that matches precisely its lyricism.
Recorded with Grammy-winning keyboardist Leo Genovese in New York but mixed in Los Angeles, the track captures a very specific and universal feeling with great execution and does it all with taste. “Get There Before Noon” is an incredibly put together debut single that showcases enormous potential for the singer to grow at the same time that arrives as a fully formed artistic vision. The Afro Nick unveiled an impressive track the starting point for his solo career, and that surely will only get more and more interesting from here on in.
