Eleven Easy Pieces on Anger & Disappointment is an extremely well-produced album, managing to merge and blend all of Tom Minor’s different styles and influences with ease. Filled with classic rock musings, indie rock rebellion and pop sensibility, Tom Minor’s debut album is one that has something for everyone. The artist’s creative mind was already on display on the excellent string of singles that preceded it, and the new tracks follow suit beautifully.
Painting rich landscapes of sound and exploring colourful textures and melodies, Eleven Easy Pieces On Anger & Disappointment weaves complex narratives heavily centered around genuine human emotions and experiences. Tom leads us through situations and places like a tour guide, giving time in letting you settle in and take in everything. Strongly influenced by classic rock sounds and psychedelia from the 60s and 70s, Tom Minor creates a record that feels celebratory – even if its title only mentions negative emotions.

Chanelling acts that range from David Bowie to Sparks, Tom navigates through challenging topics and raises pertinent questions always with a great sense of humour. Eleven Easy Pieces On Anger & Disappointment is an exploration of human relationships that knows when to go deep and when to just scratch the surface, and it does both with contagious melodies and graceful performances.
One of the album’s highlights is the existentialist philosophical musings regarding Evil as an intrinsic part of the human experience, heard on “Goddam & Evil”. Backed by delightful country and blues inspirations, the track creates an oldschool atmosphere that feels very fitting. At the same time, album closer “Daydreams Come True at Night” stands as an almost a capella track, with minimal instrumentation and several layers of vocal harmonies that feel angelical and holy in itself.
Eleven Easy Pieces on Anger & Disappointment takes us through several moments and emotions, and Tom knows exactly what needs to be at the centrefold in each turn. An album that shows its strengths in the storytelling and makes impeccable use of 70s inspired pop rock as it gets its point across. Tom Minor’s debut album is as enchanting and charming as it is thought-provoking and serves as a brilliant illustration of his talent as a musician and songwriter every step of the way.
