Fronted by american musician and songwriter Kenny Weill, The Disruptors are an indie rock band from Boston who’s just released a brand-new music video for the single “King of the Push Away”. The studio-based project is known for mashing up alternative rock tendencies and indie pop sensibility, creating dynamic sounds and thought-provoking lyricism ranging from social commentary to introspective reflections.
“King of the Push-Away” is a track about how ephemeral the moments that surround us are. It chronicles the story of a man who fails to live in the present. The character’s incapability to be present leaves him unable to form real and honest human connections, and as a result, he’s always alone and alienated. It’s a somewhat bleak concept, made incredibly fun and compelling by the band’s seminal indie rock production.

Influenced by the likes of The Police, Coldplay, and Arcade Fire, The Disruptors make music that feels smart and honest, swaying with catchy hooks and unwavering melodies. “King of the Push Away” recently got a music video produced by The 19th & 7th that beautifully brings the story to life.
The video, animated by Paul Motisi, features a unique style of animation that recalls 90s cartoons, giving it a refreshing and nostalgic feeling. Paul does a great job of translating the song’s emotions into visuals, turning the setting into a bar, and giving flashbacks to the character’s lives. It’s a very effective video that suits the song perfectly, as it shows us the character’s choices that ultimately left them alone.
“King of the Push Away” stands as a cautionary tale of sorts, a reflective piece on human behavior that exposes our innermost self-destructive tendencies. The Disruptors managed to expertly capture that feeling, and the video illustrates how things end up when we don’t break out of those bad patterns. On their single, The Disruptors make a meaningful and in-depth commentary that calls out those actions, and they make all of it wrapped in a delicious indie rock that shines with creativity.
