Following the grief-stricken “Tears Can Heal” from last September, the London-based artist creates a beautiful track that beams with minimalistic production, handled by Dave Palmer, that illustrates the hopelessness hinted by the lyrics. The somber and sorrowful tune is delivered by Andy through concerned lenses, feeling like a lament rather than a warning as he points out the devastating effects of global warming as a matter of fact.
“The Drought Is Coming” is backed by a gorgeous production that features Andy teaming up with violinist Beatrice Limonti in a heartfelt duet. The piano and strings, as well as the two voices together, dance a heartbreaking waltz filled with incredible emotions of frustration with the state of things and desperation that it might be too late to change. Even when the lyrics speak of hope for the future and pleas for leaders to do things differently, the undertones of Andy’s vocals don’t seem convinced that such change is possible.

A thought-provoking and passionate track, Andy’s first release of the year sounds grander and larger than anything he’s done up until now. There is a certain comfort in such sad realisation, and Andy navigates those feelings like a captain in a thunderstorm – he knows what must be done, but is unsure if he can accomplish it alone. At almost five full minutes, “The Drought Is Coming” mourns with empathy for the world with genuine sincerity.
In his new single Andy raises important questions about the environmental catastrophes surrounding us and tries to find answers and hope, even in the darkest times. It is exactly the kind of track that feels more than just music. It’s a warning, a plea, and a lament at once. It’s a track that shows a side of Andy’s music that hasn’t been fully explored before, and he portrays every single emotion effortlessly.
