This Friday sees the release of Tim Ainslie & The Vibes’ new single “Oyster Reach”, which pays homage to the rich and colorful history of Suffolk. Namely, this melody-filled folk tune delves into the past of Oyster Reach, a riverside pub that originally had a much different name.
Soft sounds of water and songbirds introduce what is going to be a warm and peaceful acoustic folk song. At its heart stands a pub with a long history and many changes along the years. Tim Ainslie’s deep and slightly hoarse voice takes the role of a storyteller, who’s going to bring out the major and fun moments from the pub’s past days.
Standing at the bottom of Ostrich Creek, the pub was originally named after the location, Ostrich Inn. It was a mispronunciation through a phone call, which sparked the name change, and the single cheerfully points out the similarities between two names in the chorus, “Oyster Reach down at Ostrich Creek”. The neighboring river, like many other rivers at the time, also had populous oyster beds, which further solidified the pub’s new name.
With this fun and heartwarming single, Tim Ainslie celebrates his homeplace and its long history full of whimsical, fun moments. “Oyster Reach” is about a pub opened in 1612, and it also calls the listeners to embrace their culture and learn more about the history of their surrounding areas.
Fueled by a love for storytelling, Tim Ainslie is a singer-songwriter and guitarist weaving his way through a myriad of different genres, from jazz, and blues to country and folk. The resulting imaginative and colorful music will easily captivate and bring into the world narrated by a great deep voice and masterful guitar skills.
