The Cunning Linguists Following their debut single “Burn the Swastika“, are back with a new release “A SONG FOR elon” stays on topic, now aiming the barrel directly at the controversial billionaire with questionable ideas reminiscent of those by Hitler. A rich and extremely influential man would have better to do than bring doge memes and “roman” salute to where they don’t belong. Yet here we are.

The punk-flavored single has a stylized title “A SONG FOR elon” to immediately make it clear even before a listen that there is nothing but pure hatred for the guy and what he’s up to. What’s inside is equally wrathful – a duo of women singing out what they really think about all his antics, and the noisy distorted guitars offer a disgruntled and fiery feel to the message.
A warning sounds through the song for both the guy (I no longer wish to write that name) as well as the general audience in need of a wake up call. There is only so much he can get away with, the powerful and sharp vocals point out, and the tipping point is not far off.
The message comes with a music video, also produced by the duo. It features both members of the band, and a distinctly grungy aesthetic. Like the song itself, the video was created at Clare’s place and her house number is in plain sight in the clip – a note on how the elite has destroyed privacy for making more money for themselves.
The Cunning Linguists is a duo of Clare Easdown and Jade Ryan, two musicians with punk in their blood and politics at their heart. Brash, brave, and unapologetic, the duo inspires listeners to stop hiding their heads in the sand and to confront the current situation, political or not. Clare and Jade are also very DIY, when it comes to making music – their studio is an iPhone and headphones. It’s decidedly so, as the Cunning Linguists’ desire is to encourage people to create now – you don’t need fancy equipment.
