“Alone” is the new single from british artist Caitty, a track that dives deep into the realms of heartbreak. The Australia-based singer goes for hard emotions and real, raw pain as her soft vocals soar over dramatic pianos in a tender ballad that let her feelings speak louder than any words. Caitty has a way of translating personal experiences into universally relatable sentiments just as learned from some of her biggest inspirations Taylor Swift and Dolly Parton.
“Alone” is a poignant track that packs an emotional punch that wrecks you with subtlety, delivering an intimate portrayal of the artist’s darkest moments. In a cathartic release, the artist says how tough it was for her to write and record it: “This was the first song I had to pour emotion into. I had to really take myself to the place in the story. It was difficult for me but I really hope that comes out in the vocal.” And her vocals, indeed, sell this story of emotional scarring with jaw dropping intimacy and the fragility of a tree branch in a hurricane.
On her new single Caitty already shows incredible maturity and vulnerability, crafting a song that slowly creeps in like the harshest of pains. Caitty manages to infuse a wide variety of emotions in her writing; and in true Swiftian-“Last Kiss”-fashion, she even hopes that this person’s life is going well at a certain point.
Caitty carefully creates her own emotional rollercoaster on “Alone”, going through the motions and allowing herself to feel every feeling. Not everything about the relationship was bad, and no matter how much it hurts now those good things will still have happened and she knows it. The Margaret River-based artist does a remarkable job of exploring that nuance with graceful elegance. She knows that these feelings will fade in time when perspective hits, but that will only come on the other side of this feeling. She’s not there yet, but this is the confident first step towards it.
